Caring for your newly installed plants

  • Water every day for the first week then once a week until fall.
  • The second year and thereafter the only watering needed is during extreme drought conditions.

  • Most flowering shrubs should be trimmed up to 6 weeks after flowering.  Light trimming can be done anytime.
  • Evergreens can be trimmed anytime as needed.
  • Ornamental grasses can be trimmed to ground in late fall or early spring. (Most people enjoy the winter look)
  • Flowering trees should be thinned for best flowering.  Trim out dead branches, water shoots growing straight up and any branches growing back towards the center of tree.
